Real estate was in my family “blood” one could say. My father a carpenter by trade and my sisters and I “flipped” homes when the term was still a “new” word….we would buy older homes in good neighborhoods such as Manor Park and other areas of Ottawa, strip them down and renovate from top to bottom and resell a few months later. In those days, older homes even in good neighborhoods were affordable….not so much the case anymore!
On most Sundays as a child, my parents would pack us all in the car and we would go visit model homes; these bungalows and 2 story homes in Beacon Hill North seemed like castles to me as a child!
I have never considered myself a “sales person” … to me it’s about building relationships. I have built a strong long-standing business through referrals from past selling and buying clients. When someone comes to me looking for a home or investment property, I believe my responsibility is to provide the ability to listen, ask questions and match their wants and needs .My role is to make the home buying and selling process a less stressless, enjoyable experience by ensuring my selling clients get the most money for their home in the shortest period of time, and my buying and investment clients find the home or property they are interested in at the best price. I still very much enjoy showing and listing hundreds of homes each year – as no two are alike.
A little bit more about me, I am an Ottawa born and raised resident. I graduated in 1983 with a Bachelor degree in Business from the University of Ottawa.
Right out of University at the young age of 20 years old, I was offered a job I could not refuse. I went on to work as Project Manager for Special Events at the National Capital Commission and was responsible for a multidisciplinary team of over 30 talented individuals and championed events such as Winterlude, Canada Day on Parliament Hill, Christmas Lights Across Canada and other capital events.
After 13 years at the NCC I longed to work full time in an industry I have been passionate about, Real Estate.
My personal knowledge of Ottawa is extensive as it has always been my home. I know every nook and cranny of this City and that combined with knowledge of home construction and design and having developed a “flare” for décor - it was an easy transition. I became a full-time licensed Realtor for Coldwell Banker in November 1998 and became an Accredited Buyer Representative in 2000. How time flies!
Part of my role as a Buyer’s agent is to point out the positive and negative of the homes I am showing, that I personally like it or not becomes rather unimportant, but that it meet my Buyer’s criteria and personal taste is what ultimately counts. That may mean visiting dozens of homes or sometimes, the first one happened to be the right one.
I believe my compassion, dedication, professionalism, honesty, prompt communication and patience along with the accrued experience and knowledge over the years has led to my continued success and rank as a well-respected TOP 10% Realtor for Coldwell Banker First Ottawa and consistent high ranking member within Coldwell Banker International.
